February 17th we are traveling again and this time we are on the way to Bakersfield, California to visit Wayne's Aunt and Uncle. We took I-10 and as we were going we took pictures of the mountains around us. They are so beautiful and we realized what the song, America the Beautiful met. The mountains truly are purple. We stayed the night in Palm Springs, Ca. We found a very nice Motel that is pet friendly.
The next day we headed out for Bakersfield. Wayne's aunt and uncle lives in a beautiful area of Bakersfield. The area has beautiful flowers and shrubs blooming. We had a very nice visit with them. They have a dog named Trevor. We went to the dog park a couple if times and Kratos really loved it. Trevor liked running and getting Kratos toys that Wayne would throw. The second day they took us to Buck Owen's Crystal Palace dinner theater. We really had a great time. There were statues of a lot of country singers like Johnny Cash, Garth Brook, and Dwight Yocun just to name a few. There was pictures of Buck Owen when he first started singing and several outfits he wore. It was very interesting to see all the stuff that was displayed.
We left Bakersfield on Friday and headed to Las Vegas. When we got there we drove down the strip. Boy, the resorts and casinos are really out of this world and they are still building them. There is a lot of walking and Wayne's knee was acting up. We took several pictures of some of the casinos. We did eat in a nice restaurant that night. The next day we started back to Gold Canyon, Arizona. We took Route 93 and drove through Hoover Dam. They are in the process of building a new four lane road through the area. We had a nice trip back.

Well, it's been a few days since we went on any more adventures so today since it had snowed on the superstition mountains we decided to drive the Apache Trail again and head toward Tortilla Flats and take pictures of the snow. We had a nice ride. There was several doing the same too. We got to Tortilla Flats and had lunch and headed back to the RV resort. The mountains were beautiful with snow.
Today, Saturday the 14th, we headed to Tucson for the day. As usual Kratos went with us. It was about a two hour trip. We went the back way and it was nice. We stopped a couple of times for Kratos to explore and take care of business. When we got to Tucson we set the GPS for San Xavier Mission, the oldest mission in Arizona. It is a working Catholic Mission. We toured the grounds and bought a few souvenirs. Also the local Indians were set up selling their fry breads. The bread was really good. Afterwards we decided to head to Saguaro National Park. We enjoyed riding through and taking pictures of the catus. Wayne wanted to get a pretty good piece of catus that had died and we found a few nice pieces that we brought back with us. Our neighbor told us when we were in Tucson we had to go to Gates Pass. It's a two lane road that winds up the mountain and there's a pull off that people can stop and watch the sun set. It's really beautiful. Our final stop was to get supper. Our neighbor also told us to call her brother and he could tell us were some good places are to have supper and so we did. We had a very good meal at a place called El Corral. We had an uneventful ride back to our motor home.
